Table/Booth Guidelines

The Sculpture Court and the Milliken entry of the DMC have unique shapes and a finite amount of space for tables and displays.  Artists are required to plan accordingly, measure carefully before the event, and set up within their designated space.  Displays must remain at least a foot away from gallery walls at all times.  While a limited number of extended booths are available, availability is not guaranteed.

It is easiest to think of the market as a boutique version of an outdoor art fair.  You may be used to setting up a ten foot booth outdoors but the standard booth size here is smaller measuring 8' in length facing customers and 6' depth.  This standard space best accommodates a 6' foot table which allows enough room behind it for the artist to sit.  There will only be 18" - 24" between where your 8' feet ends and the next artist's 8' feet begins.  Read that again.  While we plan enough space for artists to enter and exit on at least one end, there is no space for shoppers to walk around the side of your table in most standard setups.  Shoppers visit the front of your booth in almost all setups.

If you would like to set up an L-shaped space that customers can access from the front and side or that they can walk into slightly, you should request an extended booth and measure and plan accordingly if one is offered to you.  Unless you are located on an aisle, walkway space for customers must be planned into your booth measurements and it is challenging to do so. Please refer to photos below to see examples of tables/booths at a Holiday Artist Market.   Again, extended booths are limited in quantity so while you may request an extended size, you may not be offered your requested size based on availability and at the discretion of the DMC staff.

A map with photos will be provided.  Booths will be located throughout the Sculpture Court and assigned by DMC staff based on market flow, visitor accessibility, and variety and size of media.  An additional group of 6 - 7 booths will be offered at a discounted rate for a second year in the Milliken Auditorium entryway.  Artists polled last year earned as much in sales as artists in the Court and this location will likely become a standard extension of the market in future years.   Artists will be notified by invitation if they are selected for this location.

At your request, DMC will provide one 2.5' x 6' table, one – two chairs and white table linens. 5' x 2' tables are also available by request. A second table for extended booths only is available by request.

The Sculpture Court has an upper and a sunken middle area with stairs or ramp for access. Artist booths are located throughout.

Two artists may share a booth space but each artist must apply individually and be selected by the jury.

Additional display pieces and embellishments are allowed for display purposes but must conform to the allotted 8' x 6' space. Displays may have a maximum height of 6'. Displays exceeding 5’ in height must be accurately described to management prior to booth payment for mapping to place artists in spaces that do not overly hinder the view of neighboring artists. This is an indoor event in a small space so respect for neighbors is essential in making this an aesthetically pleasing and successful event for all.

Tents and canopies are prohibited.

Electrical outlets are upon request. Artists must supply their own power strip and extension cord.
